IF YOU WANT TO KNOW THE TRUTH

 NEW ALBUM | COMING SOON

Neil H Watson is a Scottish singer/songwriter. He is known for his “sincere" and “emotive" lyrics and is described as having “music in his soul"

Growing up in the small Midlothian village of Pathhead, Neil picked up his first musical instrument at 9 years old. His desire to be a performer having manifested itself from a young age after seeing videos of Elvis Presley. However, true to small town/village cliché, with little else to do but listen to music, it would be a chance encounter with his parent’s record collection that would put Neil on the path of being a songwriter. Having played brass instruments from the age of 9, he was able to teach himself the guitar relatively quickly and at the age of 15 would go on to front his first band.

Having played in numerous bands over the years, becoming disillusioned with what he perceived as a lack of progress, Neil would eventually turn back to the music of his early years, stumbling across a record that was released in the year of his birth (‘Nebraska’ by Bruce Springsteen). This reignited his passion for music and would lead to him writing and playing his own songs as a solo performer, while recording an album and a couple of EPs, before putting together a backing band for live shows; a move that would eventually find him described as "one of Edinburgh’s premier solo performers". It was no surprise that this led to securing main support slots for touring acts passing through Edinburgh, alongside securing headliner status in some of the city’s best live music venues.

Despite this, Neil decided to take an extended hiatus in 2013, meaning his writing and live performances were extremely sporadic for the remainder of the decade. However, as we rolled over into 2020, he had been working on a batch of new songs. These songs have now been recorded and the 'Between Water and Mountains' EP was released on 1 October 2021 and is available in his own store and in various online stores.

He is currently working on his next project, titled 'If you want to know the truth'. This full length album is likely to be available near the end of 2024.

I can hear that Neil has music in his soul. He writes a sincere lyric… I like the emotion he sings with, and his delivery is sincere also...”
